Makevember 2019

Makevember 2019

As September rapidly turned into October, I’ve been frantically getting ready for the 3rd annual #Makevember. If you’re not sure what #Makevember is, I’ll catch you up!

#Makevember is the making version of #Inktober, the idea is to challenge yourself to make something, if possible, everyday in November and share your progress with your friends on social media. The idea is to increase the creative flow of working on some project by repetitively aiming to work to a tight deadline, produce something (even a failure) and share it. #Makevember is intended to be the antidote to perfection, and encouragement to try and even fail and to show our working. Too often we see the edited highlights, the perfect pictures and the vanity projects of others, and tell ourselves “My making is never as good as that…” and we don’t show and share it, worse, we don’t even try.

Last month I wrote about making a small pocket kit for the upcoming #Makevemeber. The idea of the pocket kit is NOT to give you a complete kit and a map of instructions to follow. There is no map there are no instruction* and you’re encouraged to supplement the kit by adding items you find or feel you need! Each item has been chosen to inspire a small project idea rather than with an intended use in mind…. to be honest, the kit itself is a bit of an experiment too. I’ll be watching to see what items get added to the kit and what ideas, questions and suggestions it inspires to augment and improve (from a creative inspiration stand-point) the Poc-Kits of the future!

The kit includes an illustrated sheet. as much for an aide-memoir as it contains the manifest. This sheet has been illustrated by my friend Nikolett Sulyok who worked with me on the kit idea. The kit is now available for pre-order (by which I mean it might take a week or two to arrive) and can be ordered to most European, North American and antipodean countries. If you can’t order it for your country and want to, drop me an email via the contact form at the online store. Every effort will be made to deliver your kit before 1st November 2019. Availability is limited (sorry).
