Hackerspace Ghent Blueprint
This week I’ve been reading a new document that has been published/shared by the members of Hackerspace Gent (or Ghent the spelling seems to be interchangeable). I’ve long followed Hackerspace Ghent on twitter because Ghent is twinned with Nottingham… and you know… hackerspaces.
The document known as “The Blueprint” tells of how the space became difficult to manage and how nothing was getting done. It talks about consensus and democracy and do-ocracy and about how moving forward with a solution, even a bad one, is better than endless discussion of ideas and no solution.
It echoes very heavily some of the thoughts and ideas I’m thinking around the Hackerspace Architect and I can see its going to be a big influence on whatever I write in the future.
You can download the pdf and read this document too here:
or if you like being a git go here:
The document is credited to Merlijn Sebrechts a PhD student at the University of Ghent her’s also on twitter but doesn’t use it any more I don’t think. https://twitter.com/galgalesh if you’re reading this Merlijn do get in touch.
